Zeno Health embarks on franchise business model to expand operations across India

Mumbai-based generics start-up enters franchise model to serve more consumers

Zeno Health is the country’s largest private generics company, supplying generic drugs directly to consumers through its network of over 120 stores in and around Mumbai. The company has served 1.5 million customers, saving them over 200 crore in pharmaceutical prices.

Zeno has changed the way drugs are sold and consumed in Mumbai by putting the consumer first, educating them about generics and helping them make informed decisions that can save them up to 80% on their monthly drug expenses.

Zeno is growing rapidly in some cities with its own COCO (Company Owned Company Operated) stores and is looking to grow its network of partners across the country to serve 10 Crore Indians per year. The company intends to start by looking for franchisees in Maharashtra, Pune and Gujarat. It will be like having the advantage of a centralized pharmacy without sacrificing the hyperlocal aspect. FOFO (Franchisee Owned Franchisee Operated) arrangement will be used, in which the investor (franchisee) pays the initial start-up costs with Zeno, the franchise manages the operations. As a result, the franchisee is entitled to a share of the revenue generated. Other benefits for their partners include

  • Zeno’s extensive sales and marketing support: Zeno will invest nearly 2.50 lakhs per partner in one year to improve sales. They will also provide the partner with ongoing branding and collateral materials, as well as social media support. Business partners in their region can use their online ordering services. Zeno Health has assigned a marketing representative to manage an outreach program and execute marketing efforts in alignment with the retail partner in their region.

  • High margin even with more savings for consumers: Even after large consumer discounts, average margins of 20% can be achieved.

  • Effortless ordering and replenishment system: All medications can be ordered with just one click thanks to Zeno’s exclusive technology. All items are sourced from Zeno Health’s warehouse making it easy to reconcile and report GST. Generic, brand name and other medications are delivered daily.

  • Exclusivity to increase market share: In your territory, you have exclusive and monopolistic rights to high quality Good-Aid branded products. For your store radius, you have a ½ km area monopoly.

  • State-of-the-art and extremely scalable internal technology: Cloud-based, fully automated technology for invoicing, payment collection, distributor payment and account management, inventory management, delivery management. Automatic updates every month to increase performance.

  • Earn Incentives: Earn extra money with the Zero Incentive program. Monthly reward programs based on achieving specific Zeno goals.

  • Partner with a growing brand: Get recognized with the Zeno brand through the Zeno brand’s ongoing efforts in television, radio, print advertisements and celebrity social media marketing. Use of the Zeno logo and brand in store and on invoices

  • Zeno will continue to provide consumers with value-added services: Diagnostics, loyalty programs and other new services will be available to improve sales and value for consumers.
