Stunning scenes from ITV drama Sanditon filmed on some of the UK’s dirtiest dogging sites
The expansive stretches of sand and craggy cliffs of the pretty seaside town seem perfect for the last distinguished drama of the ITV period.
Millions of people who lit Sanditon, nicknamed the new Downton Abbey, have been charmed by the idyllic setting.
But others are turned on by more physical activity in Clevedon, where the eight-part drama was filmed.
The resort has become famous for outdoor sex.
The secluded cliffs, coves and beaches of Somerset featured in the adaptation of Jane Austen’s unfinished novel attract doggers as well as nudists.
Last week 3.6 million viewers saw spirited Charlotte Heywood, played by Rose Williams, arrive at the resort town of Sanditon in the first episode.
There was nudity as male figures including Tom Parker played by Kris Marshall bathed in the sea.
But locals are no stranger to seeing bare buttocks at the beauty site, as couples having sex have been bothered by dog walkers.
A coastal path, leading to Ladye Bay, has been touted as a ‘pickup point’ for men looking for nookie.
There are even reports of pieces of carpet and porn magazines found in some wooded areas.
One resident said: “The scenery is beautiful, but some of the events here are a bit cheeky, to say the least.”
Sanditon is also filmed in Weston-super-Mare, on a beach just below the kinky spot of Bleadon Hill. The Swinging Heaven sex website gave very specific advice on a sleeping area, stating, “Left side very open but lots of activity after dark.”
While another site says, “A good deed is happening in the sand along the pier.”
The neighboring National Trust site Sand Point is a third location for cameras and equally popular for doggers.
A married PC has been fired for joining a couple in a threesome sex session while patrolling the notorious site. And there have even been reports of a “passion wagon” offering “low-key stealth” to customers.
Further along the windswept coast, Brean Beach, which is in Sanditon, makes it the site of the Fab Swingers swing.
A local posted: “The beach is 4 miles long, you can usually find a quiet place. I saw a lot of topless couples there. My brother often disappears in the dunes with his wife.
Another replied, “In the dunes you can get what you need. Watch the police without uniform to stop the turn signals, so stay in the dunes. “
This is not the first time that a television venue has been plagued by doggers.
Poldark, which just ended, has attracted people looking for outdoor sex. A couple advertised on a sex site to have others join them for lovemaking on the Cornish coast.
The Doggers headed to West Bay in Dorset, the setting for Broadchurch and the ITV soap opera Emmerdale had its issues as well.
