The Greensburg Salem School District’s gain in its business office will be a loss for the McKeesport Area School District.
The school board has hired McKeesport Area business manager Joan Wehner. The board this week unanimously approved a five-year contract for Wehner, extending through June 30, 2026, with a prorated starting salary of $105,000.
“I’m thrilled to have her,” Superintendent Ken Bissell said of Wehner, who has worked at McKeesport since March 2020. “She comes highly recommended by many people in the business leadership community.
“We have newer staff in our business office. She will be able to come in and understand what needs to happen and how to organize us and get us on the right track.
Wehner, who lives in North Huntingdon, was previously the assistant to the business superintendent of the Penn-Trafford school district, where she worked for 10 years.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Duquesne University and is preparing a master’s degree in business administration.
Bissell said Wehner’s start date has yet to be determined. “We will be in touch with McKeesport to help with the transition,” he said.
Until then, Greensburg Salem will continue to use the services of acting business manager Mike Gigliotti, who works as needed, three or four days a week, at $625 a day. Gigliotti retired as business manager of the Woodland Hills School District.
Former Greensburg Salem business manager JR Dzurica recently left to take up the same position with the Mt. Pleasant Area School District, in the community where he grew up.
