Amazon announces Echo Dot Kids for UK families
Amazon announced its new Echo Dots Kids product for children in the UK. The device has been adapted to feature a Tiger or Panda design to make the device more attractive and it includes parental controls, the Magic Word feature that encourages children to say “please”, explicit filtering of lyrics and voice purchase disabled.
The e-commerce giant has said the device is available for £ 60 and will start shipping on July 21. You will be able to pre-order on Amazon Echo Dot Kids product page but it will also be available for purchase online from Currys PC World, John Lewis and Very.co.uk.
Customers who subscribe to Amazon Kids + on their Fire Kids, Fire Kids Pro, Fire TV tablets, or iOS and Android devices, will be able to get subscription content, features, and parental controls on Alexa at no additional cost on the new Echo Dot Kids. An Amazon Kids + subscription costs £ 1.99 per month for Prime members and £ 3.99 per month for non-Prime customers.
In addition to the aforementioned features, this device includes Activity Review which allows you to see your child’s Alexa activity and review their voice recordings. There are time limits so that device use does not interfere with bedtime, dinner or homework time, and there is an educational question-and-answer feature that can provide answers to questions about science, math, spelling, definitions, etc.
